mass-effect-andromedaUsually games have a fixed storyline that more or less ends the same way for everyone across the board. However there are games such as Mass Effect 3 that allow players to conclude the game’s story differently, depending on their choices that they have made during the gameplay itself, which is admittedly a rather nice touch and a unique feature.

However it seems that what you have chosen during Mass Effect 3 and how your game has ended will not affect the upcoming Mass Effect: Andromeda. According to an interview with Eurogamer, BioWare’s studio boss Aaron Flynn said, “We acknowledged it in the endings of Mass Effect 3 and I think that’s where we want to leave it for now. We want this to be a new story and it would be very hard to say it’s a new story but also that you need to understand how [the past trilogy] ended.”

It has been stated several times in the past that Andromeda will begin a new story/chapter in the Mass Effect universe, so we guess it makes sense that it shouldn’t really matter what you chose in Mass Effect 3. The game’s creative Mac Walters also adds that since the time it takes to travel between galaxies is so huge, it wouldn’t have time to impact the events of Andromeda.

The good news is that your efforts in Mass Effect 3 hasn’t gone to waste as your choice will, at least as far as the story is concerned, be part of the universe, so it’s not as if it did not happen. According to Flynn, “We’ve done it in such a way that allows all of those decisions you made to remain intact in the canon of the universe, but also allows a new story to begin.” In the meantime Mass Effect: Andromeda has been pegged for a release in 2017.
