pantech sky im-100Pantech is a smartphone brand that isn’t exactly well-known in the US, although in the past the company has launched a couple of handsets here and there. However they are South Korea’s third largest smartphone maker and it seems that after some restructuring over the course of 20 months, the company has made a return to the smartphone scene with the Sky IM-100.

According to ZDNet, “100” in Korean is pronounced as “back” (or at least close enough), so IM-100 could be thought of as the company’s way of saying that “I am back.” Now as you can see in the photo above, the IM-100 is a pretty stylish-looking handset. It sports a unique jog wheel on the side of the handset which according to Pantech, will allow users greater control over features like volume, versus the more traditional rockers you would find on most smartphones these days.

It can also be used to quickly scroll through pictures and videos. There is even an accompanying accessory called the Stone (pictured above) which acts as a Bluetooth speaker and a wireless charger for the phone. Unfortunately in terms of hardware, this isn’t exactly a high-end phone. It packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 chipset with 2GB of RAM and a 3,000mAh battery.

The Pantech Sky IM-100 is priced at $380 which is rather pricey given that it isn’t exactly a very feature-rich phone. No word on whether Pantech plans on bringing the phone stateside, so we wouldn’t get our hopes up until the company announces otherwise.
