roost water sensorIf you’re going on holiday or if you have multiple properties that you’re trying to maintain, keeping abreast of things ensures that you won’t come home one day and discover that your basement has flooded because a pipe burst. However since we can’t be in multiple places at once, this becomes rather tricky.

Sure, you could always have someone come over and housesit, but if you’re after something more efficient, Roost has unveiled its latest sensor which has the ability to detect wet spots in your home with the idea being that it will allow users to prevent water damage, or at least get ahead on it so that the situation doesn’t become worse.

The device will feature a water leak sensor, a temperature sensor, and a humidity sensor, and will also connect to your home’s WiFi so that it can send alerts to your phone, alerts such as possible water leakage or maybe frozen pipes. Given that it is priced at $49, we reckon users will be able to install maybe a couple of units around their home, or place it in their other homes since it is rather affordable.

It comes with a built-in battery that Roost claims will last 3 years, so users won’t have to worry about it dying on them anytime soon. It is expected to begin shipping this fall and interested customers can sign up to be notified of its availability on Roost’s website.
