samsung logoWe have been hearing rumors that Samsung could unveil a bendable phone come 2017 in the form of the Galaxy X. These rumors were further “confirmed” by Bloomberg who claims to have heard from their own sources, and let’s not forget that we have also seen patents related to bendable phones from the South Korean tech company.

Now in case those rumors weren’t enough and you wanted actual proof, it seems that during the Rutberg’s Future: Mobile Conference, Samsung Electronic’s president and CEO of North America Gregory Lee more or less confirmed that the company had bendable phones in the works, and that they are “right around the corner”.

Based on Lee’s comments, it sounds like these devices are for real and that we should be able to expect them sometime in the future. That being said, Samsung definitely needs to step up their game. Oppo has also shown off bendable prototypes, and just recently Lenovo took the wraps off a foldable tablet and a bendable smartphone that can be snapped onto your wrist.

We’ve known that Samsung has the technology to create flexible displays, so we guess it was really only a matter of time before it became commercialized, but what do you guys think? Are bendable phones the next big thing? Or do you reckon that it’s still too much of a novelty for now?
