Samsung-Galaxy-S7-vs-S7-edge-03_900
Customers in the United States can finally purchase an unlocked Galaxy S7 or Galaxy S7 Edge directly from Samsung. The company is now selling its 2016 flagships unlocked in the United States. Previously, customers who wanted one had to rely on eBay sellers but it’s much easier to get one now and that too through a proper channel. The unlocked units are being sold directly through Samsung’s website.

The unlocked Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge will work on both GSM and CDMA networks in the United States, meaning that they will place nice with Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, and also U.S. Cellular.

Customers can either purchase them from Samsung’s website or through Target, Best Buy, and Sam’s Club. The unlocked Galaxy S7 is available in black for $669.99 and the Galaxy S7 Edge is available in silver with a price tag of $769.99.

These variants have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, 4GB RAM, and all of the same specifications that you get on any other Galaxy S7 or Galaxy S7 Edge variant so there is nothing fundamentally different about unlocked units.

Unlocked handsets are a great option for those who don’t want to be locked to a carrier or sign a two-year contract. Since the major carriers are moving away from two-year contracts, those who can afford it are likely to prefer putting down the full price for their handset in return for the convenience that an unlocked smartphone offers.
