skylandersIf you are a fan of the Skylanders franchise, which last we heard managed to sell over 250 million figurines to date, you might be pleased to learn that the video game will be getting its own animated series that will be arriving on Netflix this coming fall, and it will also be boasting quite a pretty famous cast.

The animated series will be under Activision Blizzard’s film studio, which for those who forgot was launched last year. The show will feature the likes of Justin Long (Drag me to Hell, Live Free or Die Hard) as Spyro, Ashley Tisdale (Phineas and Ferb, High School Musical) as Stealth Elf, Jonathan Banks (Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul) as Eruptor and Norm MacDonald (Saturday Night Live) as Glumshanks. Like we said, the cast list is impressive.

It also seems like there will be additional voice talent lending itself to the series in the future, such as Susan Sarandon, Parker Posey, James Hetfield, Daniel Wu (from Warcraft to Skylanders, it seems like they must have liked his work), Catherine O’Hara, Bobcat Goldthwait, Chris Diamantopoulos, Jonny Rees, Harland Williams and Richard Horvitz.

According to Activision Blizzard Studios co-president Stacey Sher, “Skylanders Academy gives us the opportunity to approach narrative storytelling with the same level of quality and excellence that millions of Skylanders fans have come to expect from the game. We’re inspired by our fans’ excitement for these characters and have worked hard to bring these characters to life with stories our fans will love.”
