This year’s E3 sure feels like there is a lot of emphasis placed on virtual reality gaming, and when you consider that big companies like Facebook, HTC/Valve, Sony, Google, and Samsung are invested in the technology, it really shouldn’t be surprising, and now we can also add a new VR title to the list in the form of Star Wars Battlefront: X-Wing VR Mission.

This was announced on Sony’s PlayStation blog in which its developer, Criterion, shares some details about the game. According to them, “With this incredible new platform, you will be instantaneously transported from the comforts of your living room to an X-Wing cockpit in space. And with the artists at Criterion and DICE meticulously crafting every authentic detail, the experience feels more real than you can imagine. Once you look outside your ship, you’ll start to take in and appreciate the sheer magnitude of the environment in which you’re sitting.”

Naturally this game has been designed for the Sony PlayStation VR which last we checked, is currently set for a release on the 13th of October with a price tag of $399. Criterion also revealed that gamers who own a copy of Star Wars Battlefront will also be able to get their hands on this game for free.

In the meantime other VR titles announced at E3 include Batman: Arkham VR, a VR version of Fallout 4, and Resident Evil 7 which can also be played in its entirety on VR. In any case if you have a minute to spare, you can check out the Star Wars Battlefront: X-Wing VR Mission trailer in the video above.
