UberPOOL enables users of the ride-hailing service to save money by sharing a ride with other users who are going the same way. It’s a great way to cut down on costs, but sometimes it can end up making you late as well, particularly if you’re supposed to pick someone up along the way and they take a few minutes to get to the car. Uber is fixing this with a new feature called “Arrive By,” which is going to compensate users if UberPOOL delays their arrival.

The Arrive By feature is going to tell UberPOOL users the best possible time by which they will reach their destination. If they arrive later than the time promised, users get $2 off their next UberPOOL trip.

I should point out here that the Arrive By feature is only available in Los Angeles at this point in time, but Uber does say that it’s going to roll out Arrive By in additional UberPOOL markets in the near future.

If you’re based in Los Angeles, first update the Uber app and select UberPOOL. Add in the pick-up and drop-off locations to see the absolute best time estimates. If you arrive later than promised, you get $2 off the next ride.

UberPOOL was launched two years ago and so far more than 100 million trips have been taken across the globe, it’s available in 18 cities globally, including New York, Beijing, and London.
