viber-for-windows-10Say you and your friends go out for a meal and someone pays for the meal first. You could pay your friend back by giving them cash, sending it via internet banking, sending it via PayPal, or in the case of more modern day messengers, you can just send it straight to them via a message, a feature that has finally made its way onto Viber.

In the latest update to Viber, it seems that users will now be able to send money to each other. The update reads, “Now send money from the U.S. to virtually anyone in more than 200 countries and territories, powered by Western Union. Send cash for pickup from a Western Union agent location worldwide, or send directly to a bank account in nearly 50 countries.”

Now this isn’t a particularly new feature. We’ve seen other messaging platforms like BBM offer up the feature. It is also particularly popular on WeChat, and last year Facebook Messenger offered up similar features, so in reality we guess Viber is kind of late to the game, although it appears that they have beaten the likes of WhatsApp to the punch.

In addition to being able to send each other money, the update to Viber includes the ability to send and receive animated GIFs, backup and restore messages, and Viber Out calling plans. The update is live so head on over to the iTunes App Store or Google Play for the download.
