Microsoft announced last year that it would eventually release a TV DVR feature for Xbox One. Users had long been waiting for this feature to arrive and yet earlier this month Microsoft confirmed that it was dropping plans for the Xbox One TV DVR feature. However, this doesn’t mean the feature won’t ever arrive for this console, Microsoft wants you to know that it hasn’t completely ruled out the TV DVR feature yet.

Xbox general manager Dave McCarthy revealed in an interview with GameSpot that the team had to make a tough decision to put TV DVR on hold because it had to prioritize where it was focusing its time.

He also mentioned that the feature has not been completely ruled out, adding that people who really want the TV DVR feature should vote for the idea on the Xbox Feedback website. He said that the team regularly looks at that user feedback and responds to what people want the most, so if there are enough votes for it, the TV DVR feature will be released for Xbox One.

It may take some time, though, before this feature is made available and that’s assuming there are enough votes to force Microsoft to start working on this feature again. McCarthy was quick to point out that the Xbox One already has plenty of media options, including but not limited to over-the-air TV support, for which an adapter is sold separately.
