skyrim-DawnguardRemastered games are basically old(er) games that have been given a graphics uplift to look better on modern systems. Considering that there is a good chance that many players have played the original game before, remastered games are usually sold cheaper, but oddly enough that isn’t the case with The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition.

The game was announced last month with a price tag of $60. This is pretty much the price of a brand new game, or in some cases like with digital games, $60 can actually be more expensive, and unsurprisingly many gamers aren’t too thrilled by the price tag. However Bethesda’s Pete Hines has recently taken to Twitter to defend its price.

In a post by Hines, he basically justifies the price by saying that this is essentially a full game with all of its DLCs and support for modern day consoles, thus making it almost like a brand new game hence the $60 price. “A full game w all DLC and mod support and updated graphics running on two new consoles. If you don’t want that, don’t buy it.”

Judging from the responses, many gamers don’t seem to agree with this line of reasoning, claiming that other remasters with similar features are still cheaper. We guess at the end of the day it’s up to gamers to decide if $60 is worth paying. We have to admit that the game does look pretty good and if you’ve never had the chance of playing the original, perhaps $60 isn’t too bad of a price.
