samsung gear s2The other day we reported that Samsung had an update planned for their Gear S2 smartwatch. Looks like Gear S2 owners did not have to wait too long as Samsung has since announced the Gear S2 Value Pack Update which according to the company, had begun making its way to Gear S2 owners since the 15th of July.

While the update isn’t exactly an overhaul of the system, it does come with various improvements to its ease of use and access, quality of life improvements that we’re sure users will be able to appreciate all the same. One of those improvements is the ability for users to download watchfaces and apps directly from the watch itself.

This saves users the time of downloading it from their phone. As per the previous report, users will also be able to choose their own photos that they can set as their watchface, thus increasing the watch’s customization. The watch has also been updated and now S Health can track sleep data automatically when users wear the watch to bed, and the results from the user’s exercise can also be posted directly to Facebook from the watch itself.

Basically it sounds like Samsung is trying to turn the watch into more of a standalone product rather than a device that one might see as an accompanying accessory for your smartphone. The update should be available for download so Gear S2 owners might want to check it out.
