hero4-new-featuresThe last time we heard GoPro launch a flagship camera was back in 2014 with the Hero4 Black and Silver. Subsequent launches in 2015 saw the Hero4 Session which is basically a smaller GoPro, and the Hero+ which was basically a more affordable GoPro for those in the market for an affordable action camera.

This means that we’re more than due for a significant upgrade. If the rumors are to be believed, word has it that GoPro’s Hero5 camera will be a rather significant upgrade. The rumors are claiming that the Hero5 will allow for shooting in 4K at 60fps, which is a pretty big step up from the current Hero4 Black which shoots 4K at 30fps, and trust us, the difference between 30fps and 60fps is pretty obvious.

Other rumored features also includes a possible dual-lens setup that will apparently allow the camera to capture footage in 3D. We are also looking at a 2,800mAh battery which is always welcome, Bluetooth 4.0 for faster upload speeds, and more. Of course none of this can be confirmed yet so take it with a grain of salt.

GoPro has yet to officially confirm anything but its CEO Nick Woodman did previously mention the company had at least 3 new devices in the works that will be released by the end of the year, so there’s a good chance that the rumored Hero5 (and its variants) could be part of it.
