injusticeWith the first Injustice: Gods Among Us game, there was also a series of comics that was released that acted as a prequel to the videogame. It gave gamers some background story as to why Superman became bad/evil and it’s actually a pretty good read, especially for gamers who love themselves a bit of lore/backstory.

For those who follow the comic, you’re probably aware that the series will be ending later this year, but fret not because it looks like we’ll be getting a sequel of sorts. Announced during the San Diego Comic-Con, it was revealed that NetherRealm’s upcoming Injustice 2 game will also be getting its own comic series.

The new series will see the return of Tom Taylor who was responsible for writing the first series. According to Taylor, “Having had such a big role in tearing apart the Injustice universe and its characters, I’m very excited for the opportunity to return and do it again. To be given so much freedom to play with the world’s greatest superheroes and supervillains every week is a dream, and I want to thank everyone at DC, WBIE and NetherRealm for their continued faith in me, editor Jim Chadwick, and our incredible team.”

Injustice 2 has been scheduled for a release in 2017 and the comics are expected to debut ahead of the game’s release and will be released digitally every week.
