LG today introduced a new “Friend” smartphone companion device called the LG Action Cam LTE. The device makes live streaming a breeze on the go, it offers features that allow for filming in dynamic environments and given that it has built-in LTE, users can live stream to services like YouTube even over a cellular network.

The Action Cam LTE is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 processor and is rated IP67 dust and water proof, it will be good for up to 30 minutes under up to one meter of water.

It comes with a versatile mount and is also compatible with other third-party action camera mounts and accessories so that users can easily capture smooth footage even when the camera is attached to a helmet or moving cars.

A companion Action Cam app has also been released which can be used to download and save images and videos from paired smartphones. The camera is capable of recording up to three hours of full HD video on smartphones that are running Android 5.0 or higher. It can even double as a CCTV camera for home monitoring.

LG has only released the Action Cam LTE in South Korea today but has confirmed that it will be released in other key markets in the coming weeks. Pricing and availability information will be confirmed locally in each market.
