Lightning-EarPods-1If the rumors are true, Apple will be removing the headphone port from the iPhone 7 this year. Instead users are expected to listen to headphones either by purchasing Lightning headphones, in which there are a few options to choose from, or using an adapter which is what apparently Apple will be shipping the iPhone with.

Thanks to photos obtained by Nowhereelse.fr (via MacRumors), it seems that we could be looking at Lightning EarPods. As you can see in the photo, these headphones look like Apple’s EarPods with one main difference: the connector is Lightning instead of the 3.5mm jack. Of course there’s no way to tell if these are the real deal or if they’re some cheap knockoff.

This isn’t the first time that we’ve seen such photos. Just earlier this year we were treated to similar Lightning EarPod photos, but we guess if anything they are pretty consistent. Like we said, there are several Lightning headphones available in the market already. The belief is that by going Lightning, it will allow for better audio quality streaming from your device to your headphones.

The only downside is that not many people have Lightning headphones, plus we’re sure many users already have a favorite pair of headphones that they’d rather not replace. Either way we guess we’ll have to wait to hear from Apple as to whether or not these rumors are true.
