jessica-jones-netflixSo far Netflix’s Marvel TV show releases have been released at the rate of about 2 shows a year. For example last year we got Daredevil and Jessica Jones, and this year we got Daredevil season 2 and come 30th September, we’ll be seeing Luke Cage make its debut. With Jessica Jones season 2 confirmed, Iron Fist, The Defenders, and the Punisher in the works, releasing 2 shows a year means that viewers will be in for quite a long wait.

The good news is that this is something Netflix hopes to address in the future. Speaking to IGN at the TCA (Television Critics Association), Netflix head Ted Sarandos stated that the company was looking to try and reduce as much downtime between seasons as possible, although he also mentioned that by trying to release them quicker, it could have a negative impact on the quality.

According to Sarandos, “I doubt that we could produce at the quality that they produce at that speed. But we’re gonna try to make them quicker so we can get less downtime between them.” That being said, 2017’s schedule is a bit uncertain at this point. Netflix’s plate does seem a bit full at the moment, especially with them officially confirming that Daredevil would be getting a third season. The upside is that by taking their time, it keeps customers subscribed longer.
