A new Star Trek TV series has been in the pipeline for some time now and today the name of this series was finally confirmed during a panel at the San Diego Comic-Con. Star Trek Discovery is the new TV show and keeping in line with the franchise tradition, it’s also the name of the ship. Some details of the show were provided after the panel in a press conference by executive producers Bryan Fuller and Heather Kadin.

CBS released a teaser today which provided a glimpse of the new Starfleet ship called the USS Discovery. We’re bound to see multiple teasers and trailers before this show goes to air next year so a little patience is certainly going to go a long way.

The executive producers of Star Trek Discovery only said that the show is based in the prime timeline, they didn’t really provide clarity on the subject of the timeline of this show, but I guess we will find that out in due time.

Star Trek Discovery is going to be available through CBS All Access as well, aside from going to air on the CBS network. No confirmed air date has been provided as well but the network has scheduled the new Star Trek series for January 2017.
