no-mans-skyIt goes without saying that Hello Games’ No Man’s Sky is probably one of the more highly anticipated games of the year, so much so that when the game was delayed, its developer claimed to have received death threats about it. That being said, for those wondering about whether or not a PlayStation Plus subscription is required, it turns out you don’t.

According to a report from Game Informer Australia, its editor David Milner reached out to the Sony to inquire about the game, and according to a spokesperson, “PS Plus won’t be a requirement to play online, however you will need to connected to the internet for your discoveries to register with the universal atlas.”

Prior to this, a post on Reddit earlier this year in March revealed that a PS Plus subscription would be required for the game. This was according to the game’s listing, but it should be noted that the listing no longer states that a PS Plus subscription is needed, and this report from Game Informer pretty much confirms it, which is good news for gamers who don’t want to subscribe to it.

It has been stated that due to the vastness of No Man’s Sky’s universe which pretty much offers up endless possibilities of exploration, chances of gamers running into a friend are slim, meaning that even though there is a multiplayer component, it is still thought of as a single player game, but either way hopefully this confirmation will be appreciated by some gamers.
