minefieldIt goes without saying that when playing Pokemon GO, just like any other game, one should exercise some caution especially if you’re out in public. You could bump into someone, fall into a pond, get run over by a car, fall off a cliff, and so on if you’re not careful, but we reckon that’s nothing compared to what Bosnian Pokemon GO players could face.

According to a report from the BBC, it seems that a Bosnian demining charity, Posavina bez mina, has recently issued a warning on its Facebook page where they remind players that the country still has minefields that have yet to be cleared. This is following reports that there have been some players who have ventured to these areas, although thankfully there have been no reports of any accidents/deaths yet.

According to the message (which has been translated), “We received information that some users of the Pokemon Go app in Bosnia were going to places which are a risk for mines, in search of a pokemon. Citizens are urged not to do so, to respect demarcation signs of dangerous mine fields and not to go into unknown areas.”

So far about 600 people have been killed in mine-related accidents since the end of the war in the country in 1995. It has also been estimated that a whopping 120,000 mines remain undiscovered which means that wandering into these zones could very well set one off, and let’s face it, no Pokemon is worth risking your life over.
