pokemon_go_crashThere’s something about Pokemon GO that has turned everyone into Pokemon addicts. We’re not sure if it is because it no longer requires gamers to own a Nintendo handheld, or maybe it’s because they want to collect more Pokemon than their friends, or maybe it’s a combination of everything, but safe to say that people are obsessing over it.

So much so that apparently the game has managed to cause its first major car crash. A report from Auburn’s The Citizen has revealed that the driver of the car was playing Pokemon GO while driving, thus leading to the accident. The driver “admitted to actively playing the ‘Pokémon GO’ game while driving causing him to become distracted and run off the roadway into a tree.”

However thankfully it seems that the driver in question was not hurt too badly, nor did he hurt anyone else (save for the tree) in the process. “Auburn Police Chief Shawn Butler said the driver sustained lacerations to both legs and was disoriented, but was not seriously injured.” The Auburn Police Department has since used this as a reminder to stay safe while playing the game.

Earlier we had reported of various mishaps players had gotten into, like getting stabbed, discovering dead bodies, and being the victims of armed robberies, so if you are a hardcore Pokemon GO player, do take note of your surroundings the next time you’re rushing to catch a Pokemon.
