We guess we don’t have to tell you guys how popular Pokemon GO is. Just take a look at Nintendo’s stock and you know that the game has huge potential. However if you live around the Millennium Park in Chicago, you don’t even need to look that far. All you have to do is look out your window.

A recent Pokemon GO meetup was organized at the park and it seems that it was so well-received that about 5,000 players turned out. The event was organized by Sam Guerrero, a technician for a local computer repair company who only expected a handful of people, mostly friends and family, to show up.

It turned out to be so big that a team had to be put together to help coordinate everything. There were about 20 people who volunteered to help distribute maps and programs. According to Ash Fedanzo who was one of the volunteers, “We are a bunch of people having fun. With all the negativity in the world, I think that playing Pokémon Go is unifying.”

Thankfully it seems that the event was without incident as it did not end up being rowdy and was pretty peaceful. Chances are we’ll probably start seeing more of these events organized in the future as the game releases in more markets around the world, so do keep an eye out if you are interested in attending any of them.
