ModelX_Autopilot_Pokemon-GoEarlier this month you might have a report about a Pokemon GO player crashing his car while he was playing the game. It was a silly thing to do and thankfully no one died as a result of the accident. However it seems that some drivers believe that driving and playing the game is possible, as long as you have a Tesla Model X with autopilot mode enabled.

This was something that a certain Gary Zhou attempted to do as he traveled from North Carolina toward Pennsylvania. He even recorded a video which has since been taken down, but basically it shows him playing Pokemon GO while in the driver’s seat with autopilot mode turned on, something that we do not recommend you guys to try out for yourselves.

According to Zhou, “For those of you who are not too familiar with some of the dynamics in Autopilot, one of the things I’ve noticed, I’m not sure exactly what the cutoff is, but I believe under 45 or 40 mph – as long as there’s a good amount of surroundings and clear lane markers as you can see here – it will never ask you to kind of, remind you to put your hands back on the steering wheel.”

He also adds, “So, in essence Autopilot works pretty much 100-percent fully autonomous in bumper to bumper traffic, minus of course lane changes and things like that, and again, it’s fantastic for catching Pokémon on the Go.” Not only is this highly dangerous, but you might recall that last month there was a Tesla accident involving autopilot that resulted in the death of its driver. It’s almost as if people never learn.
