All games suffer from bugs and glitches from time to time. Sometimes these bugs aren’t big deals, and sometimes they are. In the case of Overwatch for the PS4, it seems that PS4 gamers are reporting (via Polygon) a particular glitch that is causing them to lose their progress in the game, which is obviously not a good thing.According to the reports, some players are reporting that they have lost progress like levels where their accounts have rolled back anywhere between 5-50 levels, or in some cases being reset entirely. If you’ve worked hard at trying to level yourself, no doubt this will be extremely frustrating. Some gamers are also reporting that they have lost the cosmetic skins they have gotten from loot crates, and some wins were also voided.
It is unclear as to what might be causing this problem, but it has been more than a week since it was first reported and Blizzard does not appear to have a fix yet. In a post on Twitter on the 11th of July saw Blizzard write, “We’re currently looking into reports of lost progression on PlayStation 4. Thank you for your patience! We’ll share updates as we know more.”
A subsequent post on the Battle.net forums revealed that the root cause for the bug had been fixed, but Blizzard is now investigating trying to give players back their lost items and levels, which we’re not sure when that will be.
