rovio windows phoneToday’s smartphone scene has matured to the point where it really just boils down to iOS and Android. This is versus back in the day where we had a lot more choices, and where developers were hard pressed to try and develop for as many platforms as possible, but like we said, these days it really is an iOS and Android scene.

Unfortunately for those who are still holding out hope that Windows Phone/Windows 10 Mobile could steal some market share away, we suppose it doesn’t help the fact that developer Rovio has announced that they will no longer be supporting the Windows Phone platform. Granted Rovio is but one developer, but who’s to say that other developers won’t follow suit?

In an email that Rovio has apparently been sending out, it reads that they will no longer support Windows Phone in favor of iOS and Android. “Rovio games are also no longer developed on Windows Phones. The only devices that are still supported and updated are Android and OS devices. We are sorry for the inconvenience. If there is anything else we could help you with please, do not hesitate to contact us again.”

That being said, there are still plenty of other games that gamers can choose from for their Windows Phone handsets, but if you’re looking forward to new Rovio games in the future, you probably shouldn’t hold your breath.
