The point of Twitch is so that you can broadcast your own content. However sometimes you’re not always available because you know, real life and stuff, which also means that during the time you’re not hosting, there is nothing going on in your channel. However that doesn’t have to be the case.

Twitch has announced a new feature called Mobile Host Mode (basically the mobile version of the feature that was launched a while ago) which basically lets users host another person’s stream on their channel from their phones. This means that when you’re away, you can choose to host someone else’s stream so that your channel won’t be empty, and at the same time you will be able to give other Twitch streamers some exposure.

For example if you are going on holiday, you could make a deal with another streamer to stream on your channel while you’re away, and you’ll return the favor when you’re back. Or if you have a friend just starting out, you could use your audience base to help give him/her more coverage. An advantage is also that the chat will not change.

This means that your audience and their current conversations will be retained, but the stream hasn’t, so your followers won’t have to join someone else’s channel just for certain bits of content. The feature is live for iOS users and is expected to roll out to Android users soon, so check it out if you haven’t already.
