It appears that Microsoft is gearing up to enable universal Windows 10 apps on Xbox One in the near future. We’re gradually seeing some universal apps go live on the Xbox One. Netflix and MSN Weather’s universal Windows 10 apps can now be installed on the Xbox One which goes to show that it’s only a matter of time before Microsoft does this properly.

Bear in mind that the universal Netflix and MSN Weather apps can only be installed on Xbox One consoles that are running the latest version of the preview software. This can be taken as an indication that the company is gearing up to enable Windows 10 universal apps for all Xbox One users.

The idea behind universal apps is to provide users with the same features across different platforms, in Microsoft’s case that’s PC, mobile and Xbox One. With a little effort, developers making apps for Windows 10 can adapt their creations to fit larger displays used with the Xbox One and even add support for the wireless controller or Kinect.

There aren’t a lot of Windows 10 universal apps available for the Xbox One right now but that’s bound to change as the software moves from preview to a full release, expect to see more universal apps for Xbox One once the Windows 10 Anniversary Update is released in the coming weeks.
