tim_cookWhat is Apple working on in the future? It would be easy to assume that the company has new iPhones planned, new iPads, and new MacBooks, but beyond that is there anything else the company could be working on? We’ve heard that Apple is planning on developing its own electric car, but during a recent interview with The Washington Post, Apple’s CEO Tim Cook could have hinted at what’s in store for the company’s future.

According to Cook, that future will include technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and augmented reality (AR) which he has referred to as being “core technologies”. “Look at the core technologies that make up the smartphone today and look at the ones that will be dominant in smartphones of the future — like AI. AI will make this product even more essential to you. It will become even a better assistant than it is today. So where you probably aren’t leaving home without it today — you’re really going to be connected to it in the future.”

He also reiterated that AR is something that Apple is working on, but what exactly and how it will be integrated into Apple’s products remains to be seen. “I think AR [augmented reality] is extremely interesting and sort of a core technology. So, yes, it’s something we’re doing a lot of things on behind that curtain that we talked about.”
