macOS_Sierra_Apple-MusicOne of the ways to ensure that people hop on board any platform would be exclusives. This is why Nintendo has kept their franchises like Mario exclusive to their platforms, and why for the longest time ever, BlackBerry has also kept BBM as an exclusive, at least until recently when they opened it up to all platforms.

However in the music streaming scene, exclusives are still a pretty huge lure and just recently, it would seem that Apple could have secured themselves another exclusive. In a report from Music Business Worldwide, Apple has recently signed a deal with Cash Money Records, who for those unfamiliar plays home to artists such as Drake, Lil Wayne, and Nicki Minaj, just to name a few.

Details of the deal are unclear, but it has been speculated that there are probably some exclusives involved. After all Apple had previously signed an exclusive deal with Drake last year which is said to be worth $19 million, and would see Drake release his album only for Apple users for the first two weeks of its release.

Apart from music, other possibilities of this deal could see Apple and the label work together to produce video content. Apple exec Eddy Cue had previously stated that they are seeking exclusive content that could complement existing products, so this isn’t really that much of a stretch.
