basis peakThe Basis Peak smartwatch was launched in 2014, but it seems that in the past few months, owners of the Peak smartwatch have been reporting that their devices have been overheating, so much so to the point where the company has announced (via TechCrunch) that they will be recalling the devices.

Basis claimed that they had initially hoped a software update would address the issue, but unfortunately it did not. “We had hoped to update the software on your watch to address the problem. Unfortunately, despite our best efforts, we aren’t able to develop such a solution without completely compromising the user experience.”

This is why they have decided that the best course of action would be a complete recall of the Peak smartwatches. “As a result, we are asking that you return your Basis Peak watch and authorized accessories for a full refund at your earliest convenience.” So far thankfully not that many customers have been injured as Basis estimates that only 0.2% of its customers have suffered from blisters and burns to date.

That being said if you do own a Peak smartwatch and want to get your refund, you will be able to find the information on their website as well as a form you’ll have to fill up to begin the process.
