blizzard_destinyEaster eggs and game development almost always goes hand-in-hand as it is a great way for developers to pay homage to someone or something that influenced them, or maybe just a fun way to break from the game’s storyline. For example a couple of years ago, Blizzard paid homage to comedian Robin Williams following his death.

Now it looks like Blizzard has decided to show their love for Bungie’s shooter Destiny with an in-game NPC in World of Warcraft. Now the upcoming expansion Legion is currently undergoing beta testing, and players taking part in the beta have stumbled across an NPC called Xur’ios, who for those unfamiliar with Destiny is a nod at Xur, also a vendor in Destiny.

The NPC in World of Warcraft will sell a variety of items, all of which seems to be a play on specific items inside of Destiny. This includes Ingram’s Puzzle (Engrams), Gjallar’s “Horn” (Gjallarhorn), Mote of Light (Mote of Light), and Krota’s Shield (reference to the final boss of The Dark Below).

It also looks like the model that Blizzard has chosen for the NPC is pretty much similar to how Xur actually looks like in Destiny, which is actually a rather nice coincidence. In the meantime you can check out Xur’ios in the game in the video below around the 4 minute mark.
