windows-10-anniversary-update
As promised, Microsoft today released the first major update for Windows 10. It’s called Windows 10 Anniversary Update to commemorate the software’s public release on July 29th last year. Microsoft is now rolling out the update for all users across the globe which means you can download Windows 10 Anniversary Update starting today. It brings several new features to the OS including but not limited to Windows Ink and an improved Cortana. Microsoft Edge browser gets some great improvements with this release as well.

Windows Ink is what Microsoft calls a collection of pen-driven experiences. It combines features like Web Notes on Microsoft Edge, all of OneNote’s pen features and more to deliver on the promise of making a Windows 10 device’s digital pen as easy to use as a real pen on real paper.

Cortana is now positioned above the lock screen which allows users to ask questions, play music, and do much more without even having to unlock their computer. It is capable of saving and recalling important information across devices, and can now provide notifications across all of your devices that have Cortana.

The Microsoft Edge browser gets more power saving improvements in this update while the highly anticipated Edge Extensions are included as well. The extensions will enable users to greatly personalize their Microsoft Edge experience.

Windows 10 Anniversary Update is being released in phases across the globe with priority being given to newer machines first. It will arrive automatically through Windows Update if users have chosen to have updates automatically installed on their device.

One of the ways to manually download Windows 10 Anniversary Update is to go to the Updates & Security option in the Settings menu and open Windows Update. Click on “Check for updates” and the PC will do just that. Windows 10 Anniversary Update will then appear and from here it only requires a couple of clicks to begin downloading and installing.

Another way to download the update is to click on “Learn more” below the “Check for updates” button in Windows Update. This will take users to a Microsoft.com support page from where they can download the ISO file to their PC.

Microsoft has also confirmed today that the Anniversary Update will be released for Windows 10 Mobile phones in the coming weeks.
