ebay_touch_idSometimes entering your password on your phone can be a bit tricky, especially if your password uses a lot of numbers and upper and lowercases. This is where fingerprint scanning technology comes into handy, like when making purchases online, or when using it to sign into certain apps or services.

The good news for all you avid eBay shoppers out there is that it looks like the app has recently been updated with support for Touch ID. The update will also introduce a feature called One Time Password. Basically this is an alternative to the more traditional way of logging into your account. Instead of having to enter your credentials everytime, users can opt to use this feature in which they will be sent a text message and a confirmation code to verify their identify.

After which they won’t be required to sign in again. According to Dave Comer, Senior Director, Identity and Member Communication Product Management at eBay, “One Time Password and Touch ID Authentication eliminates the need to remember your password when you want access to the eBay Marketplace. We all use so many applications that require passwords and login information that it is impossible for users to remember them all. We want to eliminate the friction entirely.” The update should be live so head on over to the iTunes App Store for the download.
