Last year the folks at Ubisoft announced the sequel to South Park: The Stick of Truth called The Fractured But Whole. As expected of a South Park game, there are some rather crude features/moments, one of them being farting which would actually be a game mechanic in the game, and Ubisoft is certainly taking advantage of that.

So much so that the company has parodied the Oculus Rift by creating a device they are calling the Nosulus Rift which will apparently let gamers smell farts in the game. Now you might be thinking, there’s no way that this gadget is real, right? It has to be a joke! That’s what we thought too, but apparently Ubisoft claims that come Gamescom and PAX West, gamers will actually be able to check out the experience for themselves.

Now why would any gamer want to have smells of fart blasted directly into their nostrils is anyone’s guess, but if it is real, this would no doubt enhance the gameplay, although we’re not sure if that’s necessarily a good thing. It would however make for a pretty good gag, and not to mention a pretty good promotional tool as well.

That being said, the game has been set for a release on the 6th of December later this year, but if you are attending Gamescom or PAX West, maybe the Nosulous Rift might be something worth (or not worth) checking out.
