The Microsoft Edge browser that is bundled with Windows 10 is great. It is leaps and bounds better than Internet Explorer in the sense that it is fast, but the only downside is that it still feels a bit lacking compared to other browsers like Chrome and Firefox in terms of features. In fact it seems that more than three quarters of Windows 10 users do not use Edge.
However Microsoft has the answer to that problem, which is by trying to attract users by giving them money. The company has recently announced Microsoft Rewards, a rebranded version of Bing Rewards that pays users (in points) to use Bing as their search engine, using Edge, and also shopping at the Microsoft Store.
While Microsoft isn’t giving users cash, these points can be used to trade in for vouchers and credit at places like Amazon, Starbucks, and more, so it’s not completely useless. However the only caveat is that you will have to use Bing as your default search engine. Given that Google is clearly the more dominant search engine, this might be jarring to some users.
However if you’re not too fussy about who serves up your search results as long as you get what you are looking for, then this could be an interesting program to participate in. Unfortunately it is only available to those living in the US for now, so hit up its website for information on how to participate.
