titanfall_2_5With Titanfall 2, Respawn will be working on some new features and improving on things that did not work out with the game’s predecessor. For example we will be getting a single-player mode which is what gamers have been asking for in the past, and for the most part Respawn says that they are treating the game like a brand new IP.

Speaking to MCV at Gamescom, Respawn’s COO Dusty Welch told them, “But Titanfall 2 is really a new IP at launch if you think about it. The Xbox One install base is two or three times what it was when Titanfall launched, the PC audience continues to grow. Then there’s the PS4 install base, which is enormous. It has a ‘2’ next to its name, but that signifies the dual elements of Titan and Pilot, and the single player and multiplayer.”

The game’s art director Joel Emslie adds, “We have to consider that there’s a whole community that haven’t played Titanfall before. That was a challenge for us – how do we make sure that Titanfall 2 is something that anyone could pick up and you don’t need to have a played the original?”

In addition to those changes, last we heard, the developers were also working on improving the game from a technical aspect by trying to get it to run at 60fps. In the meantime, the beta for the game will be kicking off this weekend, so if you want an idea of what to expect, you should definitely check it out.
