suicide squadAs you’ve probably heard by now, DC’s Suicide Squad movie has gotten off to a terrible start, at least based on the initial reviews by critics. Obviously this is rather disheartening to fans who were probably eagerly anticipating the movie, which some had predicted would be DC’s answer to Marvel’s Deadpool.

In fact the reviews by critics have been rather harsh and unforgiving, so much so that fans have actually launched a petition to shut down movie review website Rotten Tomatoes. Now obviously Rotten Tomatoes has nothing to do with the movie being good or bad, but according to the petition, fans basically wanted to deliver a message saying that they disagree with the reviews, which is rather odd since the movie has yet to be officially released.

The message reads, “A petition definitely won’t shut down the site. The aim of the petition is to deliver a message to the critics that there is a lot of people disagree with their reviews. A lot of people the supporters and the opponents of the petition act like we are already going right now to shut down the site not [sic] it’s just a way to express our anger.”

That being said, the reviews of critics should not be taken as gospel. After all why someone likes or dislikes a movie could be due to many things. A person who likes action movies might find a more intellectual movie full of talking dull, and someone who loves drama-esque movies might find action movies to be mindless, so to each their own, but we guess we’ll just have to wait for the movie’s release to find out.
