Google has already released Android 7.0 Nougat for compatible Nexus devices so it’s up to OEMs and carriers now to get the updates ready and send them out to supported smartphones and tablets. This process can take anywhere from a few weeks to even a full year depending on the device you have. For example, AT&T just released Marshmallow for the Galaxy S5, even though it has been well over a year since this update was released. T-Mobile has now sent out a list of handsets on its network which will receive Nougat in the first wave.

The list contains handsets from only two OEMs – HTC and Samsung – with the former only contributing two devices to the list while seven Samsung handsets are on there. It’s quite likely that T-Mobile is going to send out Nougat for other supported handsets like the LG G5 and the LG V10 in the second wave.

T-Mobile will be releasing Android 7.0 Nougat for the HTC 10 and HTC One M9 in the first wave as well as for the Samsung Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6 series, the Galaxy S7 series, and the newly released Galaxy Note 7.

The carrier has not provided a timeframe in which it’s going to release the updates for these devices. That’s primarily because it has to receive the update first from the OEMs themselves before it can test them on its network and subsequently send them out to users.
