twitch-ao-banAs Pokemon GO gamers might have heard, Niantic has been cracking down on third-party Pokemon GO apps and services such as trackers, which according to their terms of service can be considered a cheat. However it looks like Niantic won’t be alone in their efforts as Twitch has also announced they’ll be trying to stop streams that shows gamers who are cheating as well.

In a post on their blog, Twitch announced that they will be taking action against gamers caught cheating and streaming. This is actually part of Twitch’s terms of service in which they take violations against third-party terms of service rather seriously, in this case it would be the violation of Niantic’s terms of service.

Niantic’s guidelines read, “…using modified or unofficial software; playing with multiple accounts (one account per player, please); sharing accounts; using tools or techniques to alter or falsify your location; or selling/trading accounts.” Twitch can’t actually ban you from the game itself, but users will be given strikes on their accounts, with three strikes leading to a ban.

According to Twitch, “The above behaviour is prohibited on Twitch by both our Rules of Conduct and Terms of Service. As of August 8th, anyone sharing content that features or promotes cheating in Pokemon GO will receive a strike on their account. We ask that broadcasters take appropriate steps to ensure that their content is not at risk.”
