xbox one sDuring E3 2016 a couple of months ago, Microsoft confirmed the existence of Project Scorpio which for those unfamiliar, is basically an upgraded Xbox One. That being said, the console was also pegged for a launch in the fall of 2017, and the good news is that it looks like Microsoft is hard at work at getting it on track.

According to a tweet by Microsoft’s Xbox boss Phil Spencer (via VG247), he confirmed that both the hardware and software (games) for Project Scorpio are already underway. He did not dive into any specifics like what kind of games or features we might be able to expect, but it’s good to know that work is being done.

Previously Microsoft had also confirmed that there will not be any Scorpio-exclusive games. The idea is that Scorpio will be an upgraded console for gamers who might need the extra power or who might want 4K resolution, but at the same time it isn’t meant to replace the current Xbox One which is less than 5 years old.

This means that games created for Scorpio should be playable on the current Xbox One, so gamers won’t have to feel ripped off for buying an older (and potentially cheaper) console.
