Android phones usually have this bad rep of being kind of obsolete after a few years, namely because OEMs can’t be bothered to support phones older than 3 years with OS updates. However the upside is that the Android community is a rather hard working one, with developers taking it upon themselves to keep devices up to date even if the company won’t.
We’ve seen this dedication apply to the HTC HD2, a phone that is 7 years old. We’ve seen developers port Android updates like Android 4.4 KitKat, and last year they even got Android 6.0 Marshmallow onto it, so we guess it shouldn’t really be that surprising to learn that this year, developers managed to get Android 7.0 Nougat up and running on the phone.
However it should be noted that right now, only sound and WiFi are working on the phone and given that it has 448MB of RAM, it seems unlikely that users will be able to get much use out of it, but if anything we guess it goes to show the resilience of the HTC HD2 which is not only 7 years old by now, but was not meant to run on Android in the first place (it originally ran on the Windows Mobile).
