Gearbox Software had to fight a very long legal battle in order to retain exclusive rights to the popular Duke Nukem franchise. It has been one full year since the company settled that legal battle and I guess in the spirit of celebrating that victory it has now confirmed a remastered version of the original Duke Nukem 3D game. Gearbox made this announcement at its panel during this year’s PAX West conference. The remastered title is called Duke Nukem 3D: 20th Anniversary Edition World Tour. A trailer has also been released.

Those who pick up this title will find that it features the original Duke Nukem 3D game that has been remastered completely using Gearbox’s new “True3D Rendering” mode. Gearbox says this new technology provides extremely high framerates.

Players will be hit with nostalgia as they will experience the game in graphics that it had when it was released back in 1996 but will always have the option to switch to remastered graphics on the fly.

For Duke Nukem 3D: 20th Anniversary Edition World Tour, Gearbox brought back many of the team members that originally worked on this game some two decades ago. They have also created some new content which is included in the remastered version as well. There are eight new levels as well as an all-new musical score.

Duke Nukem 3D: 20th Anniversary Edition World Tour is going to be released for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PC through Steam on October 11th. It’s priced at $19.99.
