Fitbit unveiled this new product about a month ago and enabled interested customers to place a pre-order but it didn’t provide a confirmed release date, the company only said that the Fitbit Charge 2 would be available later this year in the fall. Fitbit today announced the Charge 2 release, confirming global availability of its new health and fitness tracker.
The company says that with the Charge 2 it recreated its Charge HR wristband by giving it a sleek new look as well as innovative health and fitness features that are based on its proprietary PurePulse continuous wrist-based heart rate tracking technology.
“We’ve maintained our focus on health and fitness with Charge 2 and it reflects our deep understanding of what consumers want in wearable device, with a sleek new look, and a fitness experience that is more engaging, motivating and personal than ever,” said Fitbit’s Chief Business Officer Woody Scal.
Fitbit Charge 2 features a bigger display which means it provides a wider selection of watch faces that can display more information than before. It helps track 17 specific workouts, features automatic sleep tracking, has multi-sport modes, routinely measures cardio fitness level all while promising five days of usage on a single charge.
Interested customers can pick up the Fitbit Charge 2 for $149.95 with a Classic band in black, blue, teal or plum colors. Accessory bands for this wearable device will be available next month including Luxe premium leather accessory bands which cost $29.95 apiece.
Starting today, the wearable device can be purchased from Fitbit.com and leading retailers like Amazon, Best Buy, Target, etc in North America. Fitbit’s retail partners have also started selling it across Europe, Australia, Hong Kong, Southeast Asia, New Zealand and China. The Charge 2 will be available from retailers in Japan, South Korea, and across Latin America starting this October.
