samsung-galaxy-note-2-review--19Quality, power, elegant. These are no doubt positive words that Samsung would love their phones to be associated with, although with all the press the company has been getting lately, it seems that these days they are being associated with phones whose batteries explode. Unfortunately for Samsung, things just keep getting worse.

While completely separate from the Galaxy Note 7 recall that is currently underway, the latest report will certainly not be doing Samsung any favors. It would seem that an IndiGo flight from Chennai to Singapore experienced a bit of an alarm when smoke started to pour out of a baggage bin mid-flight, only to realize that a Samsung Galaxy Note 2 handset was the culprit.

Thankfully there was little to no damage and a fire extinguisher was more than enough to stop the phone from smoking further, and the plane landed without any incident. According to a Samsung spokesman, “We are in touch with relevant authorities to gather more information.” Now we should note that the Galaxy Note 2 is a very old phone and very much removed from the Note 7, so obviously there is no relation.

However given Samsung’s current crisis with the Note 7 (and how there are reports of replacement units being problematic), like we said, this new report is certainly not helping Samsung with their public image.
