Apple detailed iOS 10 – which it calls the biggest iOS update it has ever created – earlier this year at the Worldwide Developer Conference 2016. Since then, the software has been released in beta to registered developers who now have a pretty good idea of what this new major iOS upgrade brings to the table. At its iPhone 7 even today Apple finally confirmed the iOS 10 release date.

Siri gets one of the biggest improvements in iOS 10. The personal digital assistant is now more powerful than ever before which means it can be more useful for people who own iOS devices. Siri can now handle things like image search and voicemail transcription, it’s also being opened up third-party developers so that Siri can work with other apps as well.

There are dozens of minor tweaks in iOS 10 which involve widgets, notifications, user interface, and apps. It certainly feels more refined than any previous iOS iteration and that’s precisely what Apple was shooting for here.

Apple has confirmed the iOS 10 release date today. It’s going to be released for iPod touch 6th generation, iPhone 5 and up, iPad mini 2 and up, 4th generation iPad as well as the iPad Air and iPad Pro on September 13th.

The iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus which were officially announced today come with iOS 10 installed straight out of the box.
