chrome_androidWhile carriers are offering customers more data than they used to, safe to say that this more or less corresponds with the quality of media that we get on the internet these days, meaning that with everyone starting to stream in Full HD, obviously more data will be needed. The good news for Chrome users is that Google has updated the app for Android.

In the latest version of Chrome for Android, Google has included a bunch of new features, one of which is an improved version of Data Saver that basically compresses images and text, which according to Google should save users up to 60% of their data while browsing the web on their phone. They also applied this technology to videos where 67% of data can be saved while watching MP4 format videos.

Another pretty nifty feature is the ability to download pages, music, photos, or videos. Basically if there are some articles or videos that you want to watch at a later date, you can save/download them so that you can access them later, and the best part is that they will be accessible offline, so if you’re on a plane or somewhere with shoddy internet access, you will be able to access the content regardless of internet speed.

Unfortunately these features seem to be applicable only the Android version of the app. Maybe the iOS version will get similar features in the future, but in the meantime you can expect to get your hands on the latest build of Chrome for Android come mid-October.
