Nintendo enables 3DS owners to easily share information with other players using StreetPass. That’s one of the reasons why 3DS owners carry their handheld console with them but it has had a 10-player cap ever since it was released. Nintendo wasn’t quick to increase the limit but it’s finally listening to demands from most console owners and increasing the 3DS StreetPass limit to 100.

The company announced “Quick Plaza” at Nintendo Direct this morning, it has been created to make this process easier for users as well as increase the number of potential encounters up to 100.

As the name suggests, Quick Plaza operates a bit faster and has also been streamed. Mii characters will only give name and location now, skipping details like the last game played and personal greeting.

Nintendo has also made it easier to launch StreetPass games as the icons have now been moved to the bottom of the screen, out of the separate menu they were previously found in.

Since it has been described as a premium feature it appears that Nintendo is going to charge 3DS owners for this privilege. It doesn’t appear to have any other features than the ability to store 100 Miis.

Five new StreetPass games have also been announced today, Nintendo has said that they are all “bite size” so console owners don’t have to worry about running out of space on their handheld. The games will be available from the Nintendo eShop.
