apple-watch-2-rose-goldSay you bought the first-generation Apple Watch, and maybe you invested in one of the more expensive band options. Now with the Apple Watch Series 2 being launched and you’re thinking of upgrading, does this mean that your old bands are obsolete and you’ll have to purchase new bands again?

The good news is that no, you won’t have to. According to iMore, it seems that Apple has kept the exact same lug and groove connector on the Apple Watch Series 2, meaning that your expensive Milanese Loop band will not go to waste, and that you can opt for the Sport version of the Apple Watch series 2 and swap in the Milanese Loop for that classier look.

It is understandable that some users might be concerned. After all whenever companies introduce new products, they tend to change up the design and certain dimensions, making older accessories incompatible, but in Apple’s case you won’t have to worry. The upgrades Apple have made are all under the hood.

There are rumors that the Apple Watch Series 2 sports a thinner display, and while that might be true, it does not appear to have affected the exterior of the watch. In the meantime the Apple Watch Series 2 is up for pre-order, although shipping times have already slipped so you’ll want to hurry if you want to get the watch delivered to you in a timely manner.
