oneplus_3_002There is a lot of uncertainty right now regarding the Android 7.0 Nougat update for smartphones. This is because unless you own a Nexus handset, there’s a good chance that you’ll probably have to wait months before your OEM pushes out the latest version of Android to your handset, and it looks like OnePlus is no exception to this.

During a Reddit AMA, one user asked the OnePlus teamed when they could expect the Android 7.0 Nougat update for the OnePlus 3. “I know Android N just came out, but when do you guys plan on releasing it for the OP3?” In response to that question, OnePlus’ head of ROM product replied by saying, “We cannot share a timeline right now, but we are already actively working on it.”

This is rather vague so like we said, it is uncertain and for all we know, it could take weeks or months. That being said, there is some good news for OnePlus X owners. According to the AMA, it has been revealed that the OnePlus X should be able to get their Android 6.0 Marshmallow update next week.

However it has been noted that the Marshmallow update will probably be the last Android update for the phone, simply because of its chipset in which its GPU is not compatible with Android 7.0 Nougat.
