OnePlus X was the first and possibly the last “mini” device that OnePlus made. CEO Carl Pei confirmed recently that OnePlus will not be making additional 5 inch devices because it’s just not possible to fit a big enough battery in them. The OnePlus X was its last small device for all intents and purposes, those who own this device will at least be delighted to know that the company has finally released the OnePlus X Marshmallow update.

The OnePlus X Marshmallow update has started rolling out today, OnePlus has released the first official build of Oxygen OS 3.1.2 which is based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

This update has been publicly released about a month after the Oxygen OS 3.1 community build came out. That was more of a public beta but today the company has finally released this update for the entire public that owns this handset.

Oxygen 3.1.2 also brings several improvements for the overall user interface aside from the major upgrade that is Marshmallow. Tweaks include new icon packs, customizations to the Google search bar, redesigned wallpapers, and more. OnePlus Music Player and OnePlus Gallery are two new apps that OnePlus X users will notice on their handsets once they upgrade to the latest release.

The update has started rolling out today so if you don’t immediately see an update notification don’t worry, it will go live in your region very soon and will bring you a taste of Marshmallow on your OnePlus X.
